Desperately disappointing end to Junior A Campaign for KLN
September 07, 2026
Killavullen signed off in the third and final pool game in the Hibernian Hotel Junior A Hurling championship game on Saturday night, by being roundly beaten by Ballyhooly on a scoreline of 2-18 to 2-10, in a game played in Glanworth. Having had a very good Division 6 county league campaign, and with a fine management set up in place, Killavullen were seen by many outsiders as a team, that would be involved in the business end of things, in the ultra-competitive Junior A championship in the Avondhu division.
Sadly, it did not materialise, and what unfolded was that Killavullen failed to win any games, in their pool. Collective responsibility is now needed to arrest an alarming slide and dip in form, from Avondhu champions in 2024, and county finalists, to semi final stage in 2025 and now the nadir and sad reality of not even winning a pool game in 2026. Sport is cruel, and injuries to important players, suspensions at key moments and a drop in confidence all conspired to this situation, but a renewed sense of cohesion and togetherness is required, from what is still a desperately young team.
The team and those that scored were;
1. Charlie Cremin
2. Kian Lane
3. Ronan Barry
4. Eoin Birchall
5. Fionn Magner
6. Liam Cronin
7. Niall Feaheny
8. Darragh O'Grady
9. Eddie Cotter
10. Owen Magner
11. Finn Killon
12. Seamus Fox
13. Mike O'Connor
14. Colm O'Mahoney
15. Padraig Looney
Scorers:
Colm O'Mahoney 1-04 (1-04F)
Finn Killon 1-01
Liam Cronin 0-3 (0-02F)
Padraig Looney 0-01
Mike O'Connor 0-01
To Peter, Niall, Sean and Barry, thank you for all that you did in 2026.
