Feile success for Killavullen for the first time ever
April 07, 2026
For the first time ever, Killavullen have qualified to represent Cork, in the National Feile competitions, after several football games over the weekend. Their series of wins started on Saturday in Killavullen, when they qualified out of the initial group stage, and that was excellent. They beat Kilworth – Araglen at that stage. Later on, Saturday, the team, travelled to Charleville, and were victorious in the Rebel Og North area. This was in a North Cork regional final against Banteer Lyre where in poor weather conditions in Charleville, Killavullen won to take their place in county semi-final held in MTU Cork on Bank Holiday Monday. They rested up on Sunday, but travelled to Munster Technical College on Monday, on Monday morning last, and played Ballinora in the county semi-final, winning out by 4 points in a great game.
In 2019, the same opponents in Ballinora knocked us out again, at the semi-final stage, with a late goal but this year was different, and we took our place in the final, against Bride Rovers. Killavullen had the edge in this game, and won out, in a comprehensive manner. The final involved Bride Rovers where Killavullen started well, with their ability to move the ball at speed in all areas and determined work rate, resulted in a great win for these bunch of players. The support of the U14 players was pivotal in getting the victory in this competition, which is an U15 competitions, thus involving players, that are playing generally with the U14’s or U16’s group, if qualified by age. .
Killavullen 5 .11
Kilworth Araglen 1.01
Killavullen 2.05
Banteer Lyre 0.05
Killavullen 3.04
Ballinora 2.05
Killavullen 3.03
Bride Rovers 0.02
The cup was presented to the captain, in Aidan O Donovan amid joyous scenes, and Aidan did the necessaries in his short, but well delivered speech. He thanked the opposition in the final, Bride Rovers, the referee’s in the competition, and the coaches and parents who ferry the young lads to all of their training and matches.
The 2026 John West Féile na nGael takes place in Carlow and Laois on Saturday, June 20 and Féile Peile na nÓg in Derry on Saturday, June 27. Teams at other grades will take part in regional finals at venues throughout the country over the same two Saturdays.
Killavullen will be representing Cork, in the Division 4 category though that can change, when the Cork teams enter the national competitions. Whatever the grade, it is fantastic to be involved, and the future looks bright for this bunch of players.
