Another win in Div 4 League outing in hurling.

Killavullen and Buttevant traded scores for score, in this wide open and high scoring Div 4 Avondhu hurling league game, played in Buttevant on Saturday under a clear blue sky, something, that is the blue skies, that have been all too infrequent, during this wet winter and springtime.

As is the nature of this league, within the Killavullen team, there were a good deal of changes from the earlier round game, in terms of personnel, with injuries, and the first team having the first call on all personnel.

Sean Woulfe and Seamus O Mahony, with Colm Hannon were our main scoring outlets, but at the other end, Paddy Behan from Buttevant was deadly, once he got the ball in hand, and he was scoring at will.

By the 16th minute of the half, we had amassed seven points, but ominously, Buttevant had 2-06 with Paddy scoring both goals and a plethora of points. That necessitated a change of personnel on Paddy, and once Patrick Angland moved onto him, the power and physique of Patrick was telling in thwarting his prowess. Joe Cagney scored a lovely point from midfield, and then, we were right back in the game, when Sean Woulfe scored a great goal, for us with Darragh O Grady, Seamus, and Colm chipping in with point, we found ourselves only in arrears by a single point at the break, 1-10 to 2-08.

Cian Murphy was introduced for Darragh O Grady, to preserve Darragh for a potential role against Argideen Rangers, in the County league the following day. Improved play in our half back line as well, from Tomas Fennell, and Conor Griffin cut out the supply of ball to the Buttevant inside forwards. Joe and Eanna in midfield were working very hard, though not always pretty, but effective in keeping the ball moving. Conor and Ian in the half forward line worked very hard both in possession, but also out of possession of the Sliotar, and that good work ethic manifested itself in more scoring opportunities for us. We started to rattle off a succession of points, from Seamus and Colm before Colm scored a free for us, the only point from a free, in our scoreline. We overtook Buttevant on the scoreline and that was added to, in a significant way, when Seamus scored a major for us, raising the green flag. Buttevant replied with a goal of their own, but Killavullen charged to the line, when the introduced Liam Martin scored another goal. Buttevant were awarded a penalty, which Sean in our goals saved, and very late in the game, Buttevant got the final score, another goal, to leave the final score, Killavullen 3-16 to 4-11.
