Results of our Golf Classic 2025
June 16, 2025
Doneraile Golf Course was a hive of activity last weekend, when the annual Killavullen GAA Golf Classic too place. The event kicked off on Friday afternoon, and continued on Saturday afternoon, until dusk. We were worried that heavy overnight rain, that was prevalent on Friday night could derail the classic on Saturday, but though it looked ominous for a while, the dark clouds cleared, the drainage of the course, did its thing, and we will left with a splendid day, and that was reflected in the scoring.
The event was won by the team of Pa Angland, Rachel Kelleher and James O Mahony, with a score of 56.6. That was incredible shooting. These very accomplished golfers will certainly enjoy the fantastic golf prizes of a three ball in Killarney Golf and Fishing club on the splendid Killeen’s Course, as the first prize.
The team of John Roche, playing with his wife Catherine and son Conor, went one place better than 2024 and came second with 59.3. Second Prize is three ball in Waterford Castle Golf Course, Ireland’s only true Island golf course, surrounded by the River Suir and accessible by complimentary car ferry.
The team of Ger Kingston, playing with Ken Crowley and Bill Kingston was third, with 59.6
Third Prize is a three ball in Monkstown Golf Club which enjoys some lovely views over Cork Harbour
Rachel Kelleher won the Ladies Longest Drive with an awesome drive that landed between the two big trees on the 3rd fairway while Bill Kingston won the gents longest Drive, with a very considerate drive on the 5th hole, that stayed on the fairway, when a lot of persons saw their efforts flash off the hard ground and into the first cut of grass.
Eddie Linehan was nearest the pin for the men, with a shot that lipped the cup of the hole and was very nearly a hole in one while Magaret Coakley won the Ladies equivalent, with a very decent effort, on the 4th green.
The juvenile event was won by the team of Dan Hanrahan, Cillian Heaney and Seanán Crean who beat all comers amongst their peers but most important of all was the enjoyment that the next generation of golfers got from the event.
We are very grateful to the individuals that put up their collective hands to play, and those who have supported the event financially by sponsorship of Greens and Tee’s.
