Our Man Pa Has A Big Influence On The Game...

February 17, 2019

...But Alas, He Is Not Our Player Any More.

1-05 to 2-16 17th February 2019 Vs. Kilshannig

Earlier today with heavy underfoot conditions, Killavullen went down to a highly vaunted Kilshannig team on a final score of 2-16 to 1-105. That margin is considerable but this was an even enough contest for much of the game, until a disastrous period right before half time when Killavullen conceded 2-03 in the space of 6 minutes.

Kilshannig opened the scoring only for Charlie Lillis to equalise from a free. Kilshannig kicked the next 3 points, with their 3rd of that tally coming from the boot of Pa Egan, our former player who has switched allegiances to Kilshannig where he is now domiciled. Charlie got another point back for us, but went off injured shortly afterwards. Liam Cronin got a good long range point, before Padraig Looney got a screamer of a point from way out to bring parity to the game. That was in the 24th minute.

Kilshannig scored another free and then tacked over a further point, and then from the resultant kick out, Kilshannig move the ball in midfield, and our man Pa was fouled, resulting in another free and point. The subsequent kick out was intercepted and Pa Egan finished off a good move for them for a telling goal. Just before the interval, they got another goal when our defence was over run from midfield, where we had little joy in the opening 30 minutes. Their midfielder Killian O Hanlon was influential then, but possibly, his younger brother Eanna, playing on the 40 metre line was even better. A bright talent for the future would seem like an understatement. 2-08 to 0-04 was the score at the interval.

After the interval, Kilshannig racked up a string of fine points, and had their tally at 2-16 before we posted a degree of respectability on the score board with a very good team goal. The ball was worked through the hands in extricate fashion, at close quarters before Dave Brosnan finished a 12 man move with a shot to the net. Jack O Connor kicked the final score of the game to bring our finishing score to 1-05.

So a measure of reality after the positives of last week, and with the selection team of Cathal, Eamonn , Willie and Dick anxious to see all players that are free from injury and training at this stage, a great deal of experimentation is still on-going with the selection of the team.
